Religion-We will begin our study of the cardinal and theological virtues.
Math- The students are reviewing time ,temperature, andcalendar. The test on chapter 13 will be on Friday, May 11th.
Reading- We are finishing up our study of Belle Prater. The final written test will be on Thursday, May 10th.
Social Studies- We will continue with our Illinois projects. On Monday, May 7, the students will be constructing a log cabin out of tagboard. Please make sure your child has scotch tape, glue, and crayons in class.
Language- We will continue learning the parts of speech and correct sentence structure in Shurley English. If your child is having trouble identifying words, please have them review at home.
Parents, please make sure your child is working on his/her Illinois project. It is due on Friday May 25th.

RELIGION – We are starting chapter 24 where the students will learn that we grow in holiness through prayer, the sacraments, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The test on this chapter will be the week of 5-13. The students will take the test where they have to write the 10 Commandments out word for word on Wednesday, 5-16.
READING – The students will complete the Hatchet novel this week and the test will be on Friday, 5-11. Next we will begin reading the novel Owls in the Family.
MATH – We will finish the chapter on perimeter, area, and volume this week. The test on Chapter 18 will be on Tuesday, 5-15. The students will then begin their study of fractions.
LANGUAGE ARTS - The test on Chapter 8 will be on Friday, 5-11. In Chapter 9, the students will learn about indirect objects and a new pattern for sentences. We will also learn about the rules for punctuating beginning and ending and other quotation rules. SPELLING – We are beginning Unit 11 – five new core words – matter, stand, box, start, that’s. We will be reviewing contractions, and frequent spelling patterns for words with soft-syllable endings.
SCIENCE – The chapter 17 test on simple machines will be on Tuesday, 5-8. Then the students will learn about classifying living things including vertebrates and invertebrates. The students will also learn about cell structure in plants and animals.
