Dear Parents,

Welcome back!  We are very excited to have met the new fifth graders and look forward to the year ahead of us.  We enjoyed meeting you at our Meet and Greet.  Your children are off to a good beginning.

1)     We have spoken to the students about the expectations for school this year.  The focus of our year will be organization and student responsibility.

2)     As you have probably heard from your child, we do switch classes. 

3)     Thank you for the timely manner in which school supplies were turned in .   Your child  received a welcome bag and poem for having all supplies in on time.  Just in case the copy doesn’t get home, we have rewritten it for you.

A highlighter to highlight the great things to learn in fifth grade

An eraser to know it’s OK to make mistakes

A pen/pencil for all the excellent written work we will do

A bookmark so we will never be lost

A star because we shine when we do our best

A heart because our classroom is a safe and caring place

Smarties to show that are many kinds of smarts

And a passport to help us remember our accomplishments

4)     Your child needs to have a water bottle in school, as well as a HEALTHY snack each day.

5)     Just a reminder, the children may enter the school at 7:50 a.m. The door will close at 8:00.  If your child arrives and the door is closed, they are tardy and need to enter through the Apple Door at the front of the school.

6)     As stated in a previous letter, tissues and paper towels will be requested as needed.  However, if you have purchased them already, you may send them into school.
