Choir Letter 4-23-10

Dear Chorister Parents and Friends,

Choir Ice Cream Party!

          All of our children’s choir choristers are invited to our choir party on Thursday, May 13th from 5-5:45pm in the music room. I am looking for some of our choir parents to help volunteer. I will provide the games and party favors while the parents can help provide ice cream sundaes for our choristers. I have already purchased bowls, utensils, and napkins. Setup will begin around 4:30pm in the music room. 

Our final Mass is Mother’s Day!

          Our last Mass is Mother’s Day Sunday, May 9th at the 11:00am Mass. We will meet at 10:30am that morning in the music room. Some of our students this Mass will play one of the hymns on their band instruments. Those student instrumentalists should bring their instruments and music to our remaining rehearsals.

            Thank you to Ms. Karen Ziemba and Miss Vicky Kensek for lending us their time and musical talents this choir season! Ms. Ziemba has been a wonderful and dedicated accompanist. Miss Kensek will be assisting me these last few weeks as we finish this choir season.

            Boys:  khakis or dress pants, button-up shirts or polos, ties     

Girls:  dresses, blouses, knee-length or longer skirts, khaki pants

            No gym shoes or jeans.

Children’s Choir Letter 4-15-2010

Dear Chorister Parents and Friends,

Looking for Volunteers for the Choir Party!

          I am looking for some of our choir parents to help host our choir party on Thursday, May 13th from 5-5:45pm in the music room. Setup usually begins around 4:30pm. Please email me if interested! I usually provide the choir games while the parents help provide ice cream sundaes for our choristers.

Our final Mass is Mother’s Day!

          Our last Mass is Mother’s Day Sunday, May 9th at the 11:00am Mass. More of our students this Mass will have the opportunity to play on their band instruments. I have given out a song to each player. Please help them bring their instruments and music to our remaining rehearsals.

We welcome back Miss Vicky Kensek, who will be accompanying us at our last Mass. Miss Kensek accompanied Children’s Choir during the 2006-7 season and is completing her degree in Music Education in early May.

Children’s Choir letter 3-18-2010

Dear Chorister Parents and Friends,

 No Rehearsal on Thursday, March 25th

            There is no rehearsal on March 25th due to performances of the School Spring Musical.

 Easter Day Mass has changed to 11:00am Mass

            Our Easter Day Mass has changed times to 11:00am on Easter Sunday. This is to accommodate the new Mass schedule for Sundays. For this Mass, we will be combining with the Youth and Contemporary Choirs.

Special rehearsal for Easter Day Mass

            Instead of our usual practice on April 1st (Holy Thursday), we will have a combined rehearsal with the Youth and Contemporary Choirs on Tuesday, March 30th from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the music room.

            Children’s Choir will be singing on March 7th at the 11:00am Mass. Students will arrive at 10:30am for warm-ups in the music room before heading over to church. Our special pieces for this Mass will be “Forty Days and Forty Nights” and “Day By Day”. Please remember that we dismiss from the music room after Mass.

CHILDREN’S CHOIR

Dear Chorister Parents and Friends,

Thursday, February 11th – NO REHEARSAL – school parent-teacher conferences

          There will be no rehearsal on Thursday, February 11th due to parent-teacher conferences at St. Cletus School. We will resume the following week at our regular time.

Next Mass – March 7th – 11:00am (also Girl Scout Sunday)

CANCELLED Pueri Cantores Festival & Mass

          We have cancelled our participation the Pueri Cantores Festival Mass. Between low enrollment and understanding that this would have been a very long day for the choristers, we knew that this was the right decision. Fees and permission slips will be returned to those who signed up for the event.

Children’s Choir: 1-7-10 Letter

 Dear Chorister Parents and Friends,

  Next Mass – January 31st – 9:30am – Catholic Schools Week Mass

          Children’s Choir will be singing on January 31st at the 9:30am Mass. Students will arrive at 9:00am for warm-ups in the music room before heading over to church. Our special pieces for this Mass will be “Gather Your People” and “A Jubilant Song” (one of the songs we will also sing at the February 27th Festival Mass). This Mass will commemorate Catholic Schools Week, so please feel free to visit the music room and the other classrooms of St. Cletus School after Mass. Please remember that we dismiss from the music room after Mass.

          Boys:  khakis or dress pants, button-up shirts or polos, ties      

          Girls:  dresses, blouses, knee-length or longer skirts, khaki pants

          No gym shoes or jeans.

 Saturday, February 27th – Pueri Cantores Festival & Mass

          St. Cletus Children’s Choir has been invited by Pueri Cantores, the Catholic youth choir organization, to participate in a special Mass on Saturday, February 27th at Ascension Catholic Church in Oak Park. Permission slips will be given out this week in choir. Permission slips and fees are due by January 21st at the very latest. In addition to singing their festival music, our choir will also perform our Thanksgiving song “Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above” at the Festival time of 4:00pm before the Mass begins at 5:00pm. This special Mass replaces our regular February Mass at St. Cletus Church.
