Hola clase!,

Pre k – K

The students have learn how to express feelings in Spanish, such as “feliz” (happy), “triste” (sad), “enojado” (upset), “cansado” (tired). They were introduced to hispanic culture, while celebrating Hispanic heritage month, dancing and singing “LA BAMBA”. The pupils will continue to practice Spanish routines, while working on numbers from 1 – 30 in Spanish for the coming month.

Grades 1 – 2

The students have practice how to express emotions in Spanish. We had a blast practicing the song “La Bamba” as a way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month. The students will continue to practice the Spanish routine, which includes ABC, weather and calendar. The pupils will be working on numbers from 1 – 50 in Spanish, by learning new songs and games.

Grades 3 – 4

The students are on their way to master the basic Spanish routine. They have practiced how to express emotions in Spanish differentiating by gender and number, this is one of the most common rules a language learner has to deal with and they have succesfully learnt it. Also as we had the opportunity to celebrate Hispanic heritage month, the students enjoyed singing and dancing “La bamba” and “Sapitos”(froggies). The students will continue to practice their Spanish spelling skills, we will read and discuss about Spain and Costa Rica, and will practice how to count, read and write numbers 1 – 100 in Spanish for the coming month.

Grades 5- 6

The students have practice how to express emotions in Spanish. During hispanic heritage month, we had the opportunity to sing and dance “sapitos” and “1,2,3″ as our way to celebrate. The students will continue to practice the Spanish routine and their Spanish spelling skills, as well as counting, reading and wrting number from 1 -100 for 5th grade, and 1 – 1000 for 6th grade. We will aso read and discuss about Ecuador and the use of the verb to have in 5th grade; while practicing body parts in 6th grade.

Grades 7 – 8

The students have practiced how to express emotions in Spanish, and the use of the verb to be. We had the opportunity to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month, therefore we enjoyed singing and dancing an argentian song called “1,2,3″. The students will continue to practice the Spanish routine and their Spanish communicative skills. They will also review counting, reading and writing numbers from 1 – 1000, while discussing the use of verb to be in 7th grade and identify most common household chores in 8th grade.

Hasta la vista,

Here is the research guideline for you, in case you were not in class while distributed.

In class, we saw a power point presentation with the 21 countries that speak Spanish as their official language.

1. Pick one country of those 21 we discussed, not Mexico… (unless your family is from there. Why?.. I’d would be nice to know more about other countries, since you are very familiar with Mexican culture already!)

2. Take a look at the questions, research the answers. You can use web pages, or books from the library.

3. Type the questions and answers, print and bring them back for next class.

DUE DATE:

clase 8 – 121: Wednesday, October 12th.

clase 8 – 123: Thursday, October 13th.

Gracias.
